Gulf Coast Ministry Review Rev. Deacon Rolin Bruno Feb-27-2008
In December 2007 Rev. Deacon Rolin Bruno celebrated the twentieth month of his commitment to serve the least, the last and the lepers along the Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast. Now God has called him into a new phase of service, assisting Bishop Alan in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
Rolin's twenty months began in Pennsylvania serving with both Church Army USA and the CEEC Diocese of St. Aidan Lindisfarne, then through Branson, Missouri, to the Mississippi Gulf Coast cities of Pass Christian, Gulfport, and Long Beach.
In Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Rolin treated every person who walked through the door of Church Army’s coffee shop as a ministry opportunity, while participating in active house church fellowships with the CEEC. At Church Army's Branson, Missouri site, he learned that the Twelve Step Program properly applied was a doorway to a relationship with God, and observed how that door led into the next door, a relationship with Christ.
In the Mississippi Gulf Coast cities of Pass Christian, Gulfport, and Long Beach Rolin worked alongside the relief organization of God’s Katrina Kitchen as they housed thousands of short term volunteers, coordinated relief work for thousands more, served hundreds of thousands of meals, cleaned up innumerable cubic yards of debris, and mucked out and helped to rehabilitate hundreds of homes. He was serving under Fr. James Giles of Church Army, who, backed up by his wife Mary, coordinated volunteer efforts, served as assistant director, and became Pastor to the two dozen or so long term staff of the Kitchen, all serving without pay. During the first quarter of 2007, Rolin was ordained to the ancient order of Deacons by the newly consecrated Bishop Alan, and was commissioned as a Captain in the missionary organization of Church Army USA. In February, acting for the Missionary Diocese of St. Aidan Lindisfarne, Rev. Rolin conducted the first baptism for the new Diocese, baptising Samuel Jack in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. In Pass Christian the Kitchen was open to the public for three meals a day, seven days per week; and later in Gulfport for three meals a day, six days per week. Through the red-and-white dining tent walked every manner of people, from displaced homeowners to struggling construction workers to homeless drifters with devastated lives. Each person had a story, and each felt loved by the simple act of someone who would take the time to listen to their stories.

Above, from left to right, is Jeff, Rolin, Mary, James, Nash, Dale, and Barry. Jeff, Nash, Dale and Barry were seeking Life Transformation in the program run by Rolin under James' oversight.
Many of the men who came through the Kitchen were in homelessness and desperation alongside addictions to alcohol and drugs, one reinforcing the other in a slow death spiral. These are the men Rolin invited into the bunkhouse to live alongside him, teaching them sober living, spiritual disciplines, the message of the Bible, and the doorway to Christ. Statistics and numbers cannot tell their stories, only their names and their remembered faces: Dale, Doug, and Mike; Barry, Jeff, and Nate; Bill, Sam, and Larry; Ron, Ed, and Terry; Fred and Van; and the one who would not come in out of the cold, Tom. Each one touched his life as he touched theirs. Each one saw Jesus: some a little, some a lot. Each one grew, some a little, some a lot. As Rolin leaves behind the room and board provided by God's Katrina Kitchen, he has recommitted himself in ministry to: Serve those who struggle with homelessness and addictions; Seek opportunities for others to be transformed by the calling of Christ; Encourage religious community among all manners of peoples; Provide practical spiritual discipling for the followers of Christ; and to Love the least, the last, and the lepers of our society. Please prayerfully consider whether God is challenging you to help financially with Rev. Rolin's ministry expenses in this next season as he continlues in the role of a servant sold out to God.

These ordinations are expressions of Anglican Unity
1/22/2006
From here. Anglican unity based on Jesus Christ rather than pretext. What will they think of next.
There is something better in Anglicanism. It is right around the corner. We just have to make the turn. These ordinations are expressions of Anglican Unity On January 9, 2006 the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal churches, Province of Saint Peter, ordained the Reverend Deacon Allen Lincoln and the Reverend Deacon Andrew Kosarik to the sacred order of Deacons. The new Deacons are both Mdiv graduates of Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge Pennsylvania. The ceremony was a genuine expression of Anglican unity. The service was held in Shields chapel, Edgeworth, Pennsylvania. The facility is an Episcopalian chapel within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The ordaining Bishop was the Right Reverend Dr. John Rodgers, who is with the Anglican Mission in America. Bishop Rodgers is a long time friend of the CEEC, is the former Dean of Trinity School for Ministry and was acting on behalf of the Most Reverend Dr. Russell McClanahan, presiding Bishop of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches. The preacher was the Reverend Dr. Rod Whitacre, professor at Trinity School for Ministry and a priest in the Reformed Episcopal Church. Assisting in the service was Captain Steve Brightwell. Steve is the national director for Church Army, USA. The Deacon serving Bishop Rodgers at table was the Reverend Deacon Laura Wicker who was serving with the consent of her Bishop the Right Reverend Robert Duncan of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Presenting the candidates were three Episcopalian presbyters. Other members of the Sweetwater Mission, themselves students at Trinity served in the ordination service. Several students from the seminary and other local clergy were attending. The unity expressed by this celebration is in keeping with the convergence vision of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches and in keeping with the very essence of our belief in Communion. Most if not all of those involved in the ordinations would describe themselves theologically as Evangelical, Charismatic and Sacramental. This celebration of God’s mission was truly a blessing to all who participated. The Very Rev Canon Alan Morris
